Aortic Valve Repair

The aortic valve is the passageway through which oxygenated blood flows from the heart and to the aorta, the main artery providing oxygen-rich blood to the body. Stiffened or malformed aortic valves may cause troublesome leakages or impede adequate blood. Aortic valve repair is performed less often and is more technically difficult than mitral valve repair. The da Vinci® S Surgical System enables surgeons to make small incisions between the ribs, greatly reducing pain, scarring, risk of infection and patient recovery time over the traditional “open-chest” surgery.
